River City Stars Theatre Company:

Joy Galbraith, managing director of Monmouth Theatre is proud to announce the creation of THE RIVER CITY STARS, a summer theatre program at Monmouth Theatre. The inaugural 2008 summer season will consist of Smokey Joes’s Café, The Songs of Leiber & Stoller in June and River City Rising Stars summer theatre youth project.

Smokey Joes’s Café, The Songs of Leiber & Stoller, opens on June 12, 2008. Leiber and Stroller, as much as anyone, invented rock ’n roll and their songs provide the basis for electrifying entertainment that illuminates a golden age of American culture. SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE isn’t just great pop music- it’s compelling musical theater as well.

River City Rising Stars will create a quality theatre production while providing a “hands-on” three-week arts education program for the youth of Northern Kentucky. The goal of the summer camp is to introduce and involve young people in theatre and all the artistic avenues that the creation of theatre involves. Local arts educators are committed to leading, teaching and directing the youth program. The camp will conclude with a performance of Alice in Wonderland, Jr, on July 25^th & 26^th, 2008.
